Last week all of the year eights did a program called 8 Alive. It is a program for year eights that helps you with your self esteem and is suposed to make you more independant. On Monday we did some getting to know you games and we started our 8 Alive Journals. Then on Tuesday *.1, 2 , 3 and 4 went off to the Queen Victoria Market. That is in the city. When they went they had to get something for our special barbeque lunch for wednesday when they got back they showed us all the awsome stuff they bought. On wednesday we didn’t do much but we were too excited about the Queen Victoria Market the next day. When we got to school on Thursday we got our name ticked off and went down to the station. 8.5, 6, 7 and 8 caught the train into the city and walked to the market from Melbourne Central Station. Our group’s task was to buy pens, pencils and textas for all under $5. I had the best time at the market and I have lots of fond memories and merchandise to remember that day. Then on Friday all the year eights had a day off!!! SCORE!!!!!

The movie Fly Away Home is about a girl named Amy who’s mother died in a car accident and she has to go and live with her father in Canada. She doesn’t really want to go back with him but she has no other family in New Zealand. When she had been there for a few days she found out that her dad is a crazy inventor and is always trying out new things. Then bulldozers come and knock lots of trees down and the geese that lived there were chased away by the noise. Then Amy finds some geese eggs and takes care of them until the hatched. The geese started to get bigger and begin the fly. They would hav to migrate for the winter but have no one to show them how. So Amy’s dad Tom trys to get the geese to follow him on his plane but they just kept on going back to Amy because they see her as their mother. So Tom is going to teach Amy how to fly so the geese can migrate for the winter safely. I do like the movie because it’s just the way the story ends because I have seen the movie heaps of times before.
